That morning, Pip flies so low that his crest tickles the daisies. Suddenly: “Achoo!” A little cloud is caught in a tree. “I have lost my family,” it sniffles. Rex arrives with a ladder… much too short. “Well. Perfect for a smaller tree!” Trixie smiles: before they climb, they should listen.

Under the tree, Trixie hears another sound. “Crrr…” It is not a monster: it is the dry, cracked soil. A tiny shoot droops its head. “It is thirsty,” says Trixie. Rex offers his snack. “A banana?” “That is kind, but a plant needs water!” The cloud looks at its grey tummy. Perhaps it has something to offer.

“I do not know how to rain,” whispers the cloud. Pip tells it about his funniest landing: the day he bowed to a flower with his feet in the air. The cloud giggles. One drop lands on Rex’s nose. Then two. Then three! “My nose is having a shower!” laughs Rex. The soil drinks gently and the little shoot lifts its head.

After raining, the cloud feels lighter. Pip flies around the branches without shaking them. “Can you feel this breeze?” The cloud hesitates. “What if I get lost again?” Rex raises a tiny paw. “You can be scared and try with a friend.” Pip follows the breeze, Trixie points out the gap and Rex cheers from the ground. This time, the ladder stays with the snacks.

Above the valley, sunlight shines through the last raindrops. A rainbow appears. “A giant slide!” shouts Rex. “We cannot sit on it,” says Trixie, “but we can look at it.” The little cloud spots its family behind the hill. It tells them about the plant, Rex’s banana and his nose shower. All the clouds feel like laughing.

The next day, nothing has grown all at once. So the friends come back to watch, day after day. One morning, two new leaves appear. Rex brings three little signs: “Water. Light. Patience.” Pip adds a fourth: “And friends!” High above, a little cloud waves. It now knows the way home… and the way to the garden.
