Pip announces a grand exhibition. He wants to paint the wind. He looks left, then right. Nothing to copy! Rex suggests yellow because he likes yellow. Trixie asks a question. “If we cannot see the wind, can we see what it moves?”

They watch the branches. Leaves sway and turn over. Pip paints long green lines. Rex tries to pose for the picture, but a leaf sticks to his nose. “The wind has already started my portrait!” Trixie gently lifts the leaf and lets it blow away.

Little ripples appear on the puddle. Pip adds blue curves. Rex blows across his bowl of water and makes tiny waves. “I have a little wind in my mouth!” Trixie laughs. They compare straight branches and curving water. Their page is beginning to tell the story of a walk.

A gust carries away the feather Pip was using to paint. He opens his beak, annoyed. Then he notices its swirling path. He takes his other brush and paints a big orange spiral. “Did you put your annoyance in the picture?” asks Rex. “Yes. It had an interesting shape.”

At the exhibition, Rex looks for the wind on the page. He finds leaves, water and a feather. “Ah! It is in everything that moves!” Pip hangs his picture with two sturdy clips. A breeze passes. The picture stays put. “Today,” Pip announces, “the wind is invited. But it cannot take my drawing home!”
